It has been a great start to the new season....Our old coffee machine sadly died... it started leaking and working on one side and the cappuccinos and lattes were becoming more and more similar so a more apt name would have been a cappulatte or a lattecino... In the end the only discernible difference was the chocolate sprinkles on the top and the cup.... We managed to resell the machine to a guy in Lithuania who wanted it for spares/repair... We decided instead to purchase a bean to cup machine. This is far more environmentally friendly than the pods!
Our new machine is called Franke Flair.... and he really is a beast of a machine... We are able to programme precise quantities of steam and foam and are pleased that it freshly grinds Lavazza beans for each cup. A bonus is that all staff can use the machine !!! We offer both Caffeinated and Decaff coffee... and good old Franke is much more environmentally friendly with the coffee grounds able to be spread in the polytunnel. Tomatoes absolutely love spent coffee grounds !!!!! Why ? Because the tomato plants can access the nitrogen easily and the slugs and snails hate the caffeine...Clearly if you order decaffeinated coffee you are inadvertently allowing slugs and snails to flourish around our tomatoes. If you would like some spent coffee grounds for your garden just ask us when you come along.. Also for sale we have some brilliant well-rotted Horse Manure...This isn't just any horse manure its Bus Fayre Horse Manure.... homemade by Hogan, Blue, Maude, Frankie, Reg, Athena and Bunting. Fully endorsed by Simon (Louise's brother caught red-handed shovelling it into his van) All profits from the sale of the Horse Manure will be going into the development of our own fresh garden produce.
Wildlife in abundance at the moment up near the bus. We have had a visit from the fox which has feasted on three of our chickens so the ladies are quite closely supervised at the moment - so are the chickens. There has been a rabbit visiting the vegetable garden (his name is **** OFF ) and goldfinches and swallows are seen regularly.
We are members of NCAAS the Nationwide Catering Association and therefore ensure that staff are trained properly in Food Hygiene. Congratulations to the newest and oldest member of the team Maddie gained her Food Hygiene Level 2 this week... Who would have thought someone so old could remember so much information (only kidding Mum, only kidding x)
