So whilst Jill and Louise held the fort Rich and I went off on our holidays... We flew to Bilbao in Spain and then on to the Basque Region in the Pyrenees to a little village called Beyrie-sur-Joyeuse. Exciting highlights of the holiday included sampling Pinxos in Bilbao. These are tiny little snacks that are available at all the bars.. The Spanish sample a few with a drink then move onto the next place, so we tried this out a lot to see if we liked it - we did !! We particularly liked Piazza Nueva , where all the bars were next to each other. We stayed in the most amazing Basque house in France - check it out for yourselves at www.jauberria.com - we can highly recommend it and the lovely English owners can guide you to all the best places to visit . It sleeps 6 and is ideal for children - such a spectacular region to explore. Some jaw-dropping scenery and an amazing little village nearby where they dry the chilli peppers on the sides of the houses.... I managed to acquire some seeds (thanks Dave) so will be able to grow my own next year.. I doubt that I will hang them on the side of the house though - in Cornwall they would more likely end up soggy than dried. This slideshow shows the best bits... feel free to skip it if you find holiday photos boring.....
It was a busy couple of weeks with lots of different functions as well as the usual opening...I can't take any credit for the success as Lou and Jill were left to do it all... One little chap had his Birthday party and had a fabulous time on the bus and Syd made his Birthday by bringing along our favourite owls... Happy 6th Birthday Finn!!!!
The Centenary Drama Group also came up to the field for hot dogs, games and dessert...and here they are - one game seems to be Wheelbarrow Races but the other one - looks well dodgy ????
A feature of Bus Fayre which is hard to get elsewhere is the sense of freedom and the amazing location - just perfect for a spot of yoga according to our customers.....
Our menu has been tweaked to match the change of season and some scrummy winter warmers are on offer - last weekend it was Leek and Potato Soup and Morrocan Carrot and Red Lentil. Both vegan and there will more on offer this coming weekend...We really do have the best customers in the world - so they deserve the very best.....
