Kehelland Apple Day was a great success.... We offered our fabulous breakfast butties in the morning and then once all the bacon had run out we offered delicious beef burgers and veggie burgers in brioche buns with salad and freshly made coleslaw. Jill became the barista and burger bun salad topper, Jamie the washer upper extraordinaire and occasional tea maker (well he put the boiling water on top of the teabags !) Sharon the order shouter and till operator - (only one person was knowingly short-changed), Louise the thingummybobber- well we don't really know what she was doing but she was very very busy and Rich became the Burger Maestro and here he is doing his thing...
This great photo was taken by Shawn Jehu - some fabulous pictures are on his FB page - www.facebook.com/www.sjpictures.co.uk. Such a versatile burger flipper he can also do it in colour some more great pics on our very own Mr Lockie's page - www.facebook.com/AimeeJohn.Memories.Photography
We were visited by the lovely Finn, Jill's grandson - who appears to have recovered from his hospital visit following his "how far can I push a pea up my nose incident"...
Such a busy time with queues virtually all day.... but what a lovely day and all in aid of such a great cause. The Kehelland trust are hoping to buy a new tractor following the demise of their old one. Bus fayre will be donating some money towards this fantastic cause. The work that the Kehelland Trust do is just amazing.
Here is the message from Kehelland - "This, our dear friends of Kehelland Trust is our ex-tractor. When visiting Apple Day tomorrow we are asking for pledges to help support our funding bid for a new one. Our site is impossible to manage without one, and most importantly, a tractor offers unique training opportunities and experiences for the young people and adults we work with. Ali has painted a tractor on our tractor shed wall; together we hope we'll get our new tractor covered!" If anyone would like to help out - why not pop into Kehelland with a donation or contact them directly...
In the evening we served up the fabulous St Buryan Beef Chilli and also a spicy Sweet Potato and Chickpea Stew. The beef from St Buryan is absolutely delicious and not to be missed - Morwenna is at the Farmers Market in Penzance every Friday or why not head straight to the website - http://www.stburyanbeef.co.uk/shop. Today has been spent recovering - Jamie has spent most of the day trying to remove the Kehelland Exhibitor stamp off his head - courtesy of Anthea who took her stamping role very seriously especially towards the end of the evening, when anyone not moving got stamped. We think Anthea has probably spent most of the day recovering as well...
Unfortunately we have had to cancel our Supper Evening this week, due to a slight technical hiccup with the electrics, but we will be rearranging it VERY VERY SOON... Details will be on our website and also our Facebook page. Lots of other new and exciting events are in the pipeline... details to follow ... Ending on a Cliffhanger....
This week we said a sad goodbye to our pitch at Tesco we will miss all of our lovely customers and also the staff at Tesco who regularly came in for coffee and lunches and James the manager who made us feel welcome. However, we were pleased to be able to donate £200 towards the Tesco Charities - Diabetes Uk and the British Heart Foundation and if Tesco will have us we hope to be back for special occasions and also in the Spring.. A special goodbye to Syd who can't bear shopping, the lovely lady who regularly donates to the charities, Bob the builder, the Tesco girlies, the guy who advised us to read the" Ragged Philanthropist ", the bus geeks, Ben and family, the alternative energy expert, all the little ones who sat in the driver's seat and messed around with the dials and buttons, Tommy who moved the trolleys for us and everyone else... Not everyone will be sad to see us go - the chap who was concerned that we were taking up too many parking spaces will be delighted and the lady who likes to leave her dog in the car whilst she goes shopping will find 4 additional shady spaces she can use throughout the winter months..
