We are preparing for our launch.... Hot off the press the launch will take place on Saturday 11th July and full details will be released on the blog TOMORROW........ It will be a relaxed and casual event, where you will have the opportunity to mingle, see our plans, menus, hear some music meet the team and most importantly see the bus and sample some mini canapes, desserts and cakes from our taster buffet. To come to the launch all you need to do is book your tickets through EVENTBRITE - details of how to do this will be here tomorrow - this will give us an accurate idea of numbers!! Hope you will be able to make it !
Jill's party was a roaring success. Work on the bus continued until the last minute, and we still have a few more things to fix, but we managed to get the main things done so that she was looking her best - (the bus, not Jill) The food was absolutely scrummy...hot food included Beef Chilli, Chicken Chasseur, Thai Vegetable Curry with crusty bread. There was also a range of cold quiches, salads and desserts served in the marquee. Not forgetting the marshmallows that were toasted over the fire pit. The children loved walking on the hay bales, and just running around in the open space. Three men and a coat provided the music and did an incredible job... Here are just a few photos
Our bus is currently in having some mechanical work done and then it will have its MOT on Monday. Thanks to Pat for driving it over to Redruth for us. We have finally got the full legal information on our business and the bus has to be reclassified as an HGV vehicle, for which we have to apply for an operator's licence. All at great expense, but we hope you enjoy the advert that we had to put in the Cornishman...
We have got three more major parties booked in and we have the go ahead from Tesco's Penzance - so we hope that from July 15th you see us in the car park there for two days a week - most probably Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tesco's have been incredibly supportive of our business and we are so excited that we can get out into the community and champion Cornish food and hopefully build a regualr customer base. We are also hoping to secure a pitch at the Three Chords Festival which is being held over the August bank holiday. More about that in our next blog !!! Please keep Saturday 11th July free we are planning an open event to properly launch Bus Fayre. More about that in our next blog too !!!
All systems go getting ready for Jill's 50th party. The bus fayre field is looking stunning having been mown ready for the party.
Here we go putting up the marquee......
Success at last - no fun was had in the erecting of the marquee it wa.s a very serious business.
There is a very strange space up at the field now with no bus to work on. Luckily for us the Royal Cornwall Show was on and as Louise and I had won tickets from Outset Cornwall we set forth to network. Here are some of our best bits... Jamie particularly enjoyed networking with the caged birds. The Alpacas were particularly interested in Busfayre and the bonsai trees couldn't get enough of us.
Once we had finished our version of "Where's Wally" spending a considerable amount of time looking for each other we did actually get down to some real networking. I would like to state that "meet us at the icecream van" is not the best idea as there are hundreds of them..
These are the lovely people at the Cornish pork pantry. They sell delicious pork products from their own pigs. They are regularly at the St Ives farmers market in the Guildhall on a Thursday. We tried out their bacon and bacon Thai rissoles - delicious!!!
Today we have been sorting out the seat clips out on the deck and in the sun. We were fortunate enough to have a supermodel from Hawaii in our midst sporting the latest in sun hats. (This is a cryptic pun, but judging by the blog competition I doubt any of you will get it!!!)
Well tomorrow is the BIG day well the BIG BIG BIG day as we find out what work needs doing on the bus for her to pass her all important MOT. Scary stuff but fingers crossed she will be ok. To take our minds off it here are some cute pictures of the ducklings and Skampy pretending to be a duckling by putting a ball in his mouth.
I have been reminded by everyone I've met that there has been a bit of a gap in the blog writing.. Well this is largely because we have been working hard both on the bus and off. She is off for her MOT on Friday so keep your fingers crossed everyone for a nice cheap outcome... especially as we have Jill's big 50th Birthday Party next Saturday.
On the upper deck we decided to put in a dresser to store cutlery etc... We found a beautiful dresser to do the job on ebay but as you can see getting it onto the upper deck was problematic. It wouldn't go up the stairs by about 2mm so the only solution was to try and get it to go through the emergency exit window at the back of the bus.
Luckily we had reinforcements with Jill's Mum Doreen coming to lend a hand... Anyone who turns up to visit on a Sunday gets roped in. Not quite sure what Doreen was actually doing, but she was caught drink driving at one time.. You can't beat a brew when you're driving a double decker bus - especially a Bus Fayre cuppa...
The seats are all fastened back in now so the jumble above is sorted... Also great news for us- we are able to use the original seat clips to put the pads back onto the seats this is a huge time saver and also brilliant that we can reuse original material.
Our new tap..... It looks like something out of an alien spaceship but apparently it will do the job !!
The Bus Fayre logo has appeared on Jill's car... it is probably the only decent vehicle amongst us...
